Announcing Donna Cunningham’s Correspondence Course:
Astrological Chart Interpretation and Synthesis
Donna Cunningham, one of astrology’s best-known authors and teachers,
is now offering a 14-lesson correspondence course by email. If you’ve already studied the signs,
planets, houses, aspects and transits, but don’t know how to put all those pieces together,
this intermediate level class is for you. It will help you explore the chart as a whole and
spot important themes and patterns. The lessons, reading material, and exercises are designed
to teach you to scan the chart for overall energetic patterns and spot what stands out as important.
You’ll build on this overview layer by layer to analyze aspects and other important facets of the individual chart.
Additional lessons will consider how to interpret transiting positions
and aspects and how they relate to and repeat natal themes.

PURPOSE:
Chart synthesis is the art of interpreting the chart and integrating various parts while evaluating
their relative strengths and the roles they play in the ongoing psychology and life of the individual.
Our focus will be on identifying and interpreting patterns of planetary energies such as singletons,
stelliums, elemental balance, house emphasis, planetary types, hard and soft aspects, major configurations,
vocational patterns, and recurrent themes. Learning the role of the outer planets and their signs
in the natal chart will help to place the person against the background of society. Transits will
be added to the natal chart to help identify repetitive patterns, stages of growth and maturing, and the
role played in our lives by the unfolding of society, as indicated by the outer planets’ transiting signs.
COURSE GOALS:
Gain the ability to scan the chart for overall energetic patterns and to spot what stands out as important.
Layer by layer, build on this overview to analyze aspects and other important facets of the chart.
Synthesize the pieces, spotting important themes and patterns.
Interpret transiting house positions and aspects and how they relate to natal themes.
HOW THE COURSE WORKS:
The course consists of 14 lessons conducted by email. After an initial phone interview with Donna to determine
the student’s level of previous study and interests, the student will do the reading assignment for each lesson,
then complete the assignment and send it to Donna by email. Two of the texts are ebooks, and if you've never
worked with them, there are detailed instructions.
Donna’s exercises are designed to train the student’s mind and eye to recognize visual cues as to what
is important and unique in a given chart. Exploring the aspect pattern, elemental balance, and planetary
type adds to this initial grasp of the person whose chart is being explored. The student is given tools
to develop independence in analyzing a variety of aspects—the building blocks of astrological interpretation—-including
such major configurations as the T-square, Grand Trine, and Yod. These tools are then applied to transiting
aspects and synthesizing their relationship to the natal chart.
TUITION: $300, paid in advance. Students may drop the course after two lessons and receive a tuition refund,
minus $50 administrative costs.
